meri otoshi 大歳芽里

Meri Otoshi was born in Kyoto, Japan. She began a dance when she was 3 years old at the Kyoto ballet school in Japan.
She studied ballet ,modern and character dance in the ballet department of the Showa school for performing arts and graduated successfully.
She was choreographer for a Japanese independent film ‘Peach’ in 1998,which won the grand prix of Los Angeles independent film festival and Moscow independent film festival.
Meri was influenced by underground culture in Tokyo. She danced street jazz in clubs and for TV commercials and show dances at The Show Club in Tokyo.
Later on, she collaborated with various dance styles(flamenco,hiphop,buto,comtemporary,african),with a theater company ,opera singers ,visual artist and musicians in Kyoto and Osaka. She danced in search of her own body and freedom of thought and will.
She participated in Vincent Mantosoe’s piece ‘Men-jaro’ (winner of the 2006 the Gauteng MEC award for the best choreography , 2007 Bessie award for the music composer) and performed in South Africa,France,England,Germany,U,S,A and Canada from 2005. She has been intensely exploring the relationship between body,spirit,consciousness and energy. She participated in Essais formation at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d’Angers from 2008 to 2010. She is interested in absurd dance and pure movement. She expands her creativity into other fields.

大歳芽里（おおとしめり）

1978年京都生まれ。3歳より京都バレエ専門学校/有馬バレエ教室にてクラシックバレエをはじめる。昭和音楽芸術学院バレエ科にてクラシック、モダン、民族舞踊などを学び卒業。1998年自主制作映画「peach」に振付。（第５回ロサンゼルス・インディペンデント・フィルム・フェスティバル特別招待作品/第２回モスクワ・キノタヴル映画祭フィクション部門最優秀作品賞、最優秀ビジュアル賞）以降アンダーグラウンド・カルチャーに影響を受ける。
ストリート・ジャズを都内クラブ、イベント、CM,ショークラブなどで踊る。4ヶ月間ヨーロッパ武者修行の旅の後、様々なダンススタイルのダンサー（フラメンコ、HIPHOP、舞踏、コンテンポラリー、アフリカン）、劇団、歌手（オペラ、ジャズ、R＆B）、ヴィジュアルアーティスト、ミュージシャン等と京都、大阪にて共演を重ね、自身の身体、またあらゆる概念からの自由を模索する。
2005年より南アフリカ出身の振付家ヴィンセント・マンソーの作品「Men-jaro」（2006年Gauteng　MECベスト振付賞、2007年ベッシー賞、作曲部門）に参加し南アフリカ、フランス、イギリス、ドイツ、アメリカ、カナダにて公演する。アフリカンダンスから身体、ココロ、意識、エネルギーの関係に興味を持ち探究している。
2008年より2010年までフランスのアンジェ国立振付センター、振付コースに在籍。自身の映像作品が８カ国で上映される。現在大阪此花区に住居兼アトリエを構え活動中。不条理ダンス、純粋ムーヴメントに関心があり、他の分野におけるダンスの可能性、身近なところにダンスを広げたいと考えている。
